Cancun International Airport (CUN) opened in 1974 and is operated by ASUR. It is the second busiest airport in Mexico, handling over 30 million passengers annually.

The airport serves as a major gateway for tourists visiting the Mexican Caribbean. Further expansion plans are underway to accommodate increasing passenger traffic.

🏢 Terminals

Cancun International Airport has four terminals. Terminal 1 is primarily used by charter airlines.

Terminal 2 handles both domestic and international flights, with 22 gates. Terminal 3 serves primarily US and Canadian airlines, featuring 21 gates.

Terminal 4, the newest and largest, handles international flights, with a capacity of 9 million passengers annually and 12 gates. In 2018, Terminal 4 was opened to increase the airport's capacity.

ADO bus services operate from the airport to downtown Cancun and other destinations like Playa del Carmen and Tulum. Fares vary depending on the destination, ranging from MXN 98 to Cancun to MXN 220 to Playa del Carmen. Frequency is approximately every 30-45 minutes.

Taxi/Cab
Taxis are available outside each terminal. A pre-paid taxi service is recommended to avoid overcharging. A taxi to downtown Cancun costs approximately MXN 400-600. Uber is available, but pick-up locations may be restricted.

20 km from Cancun city center, approximately 20-30 minutes without traffic, 45-60 minutes during peak hours.

The Mera Business Lounge is located in Terminal 2 (domestic and international). The VIP Lounge Cancun is in Terminal 3. Terminal 4 has The Grand Lounge Elite and a VIP Lounge. Access is typically through lounge membership programs like Priority Pass, or by purchasing a day pass.
