Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) was opened in 1980 and is operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB). In 2023, the airport handled approximately 8 million passengers.
It is the largest and busiest airport in Bangladesh, serving as a hub for Biman Bangladesh Airlines. The airport is undergoing significant expansion with the construction of Terminal 3 to meet growing demand.
Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport has two main terminals: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Terminal 1 primarily handles international flights, while Terminal 2 is used for domestic operations.
There are a total of 26 boarding gates. The airport has undergone expansions to increase its annual passenger handling capacity to 12 million.
Recent expansion projects include the construction of a third terminal, expected to be completed in 2024, which will add a capacity of 8 million passengers per year.
Short-term parking and long-term parking are available. Rates for cars: Short-term: 50 BDT for the first hour, 30 BDT per hour thereafter. Long-term: 300 BDT per day. No pre-booking available.
