Helsinki-Vantaa Airport opened in 1952 for the Olympic Games. It is operated by Finavia.

In 2023, the airport served approximately 14.8 million passengers. Its IATA code is HEL.

It is the main international airport of Finland and a major hub for flights between Europe and Asia. There are ongoing plans to further expand the airport's capacity to accommodate future growth.

Helsinki-Vantaa Airport has two main terminals: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Terminal 1 handles domestic and Schengen area flights, while Terminal 2 is used for international and some Schengen flights.

Terminal 1 has 15 gates. Terminal 2 has 26 gates.

The terminals are connected by a pedestrian walkway, and the total area of the terminals is approximately 225,000 square meters. The airport has a capacity of around 20 million passengers per year.

An expansion project completed in 2022 increased capacity to 30 million passengers annually.
