Jerusalem, Israel
Atarot Airport, also known as Jerusalem International Airport, opened in 1924. It was operated by the British Mandate authorities, then Jordanian authorities, and later the Israeli Airport Authority.
The airport ceased operations in 2000 due to security concerns during the Second Intifada. Its IATA code is JRS.
There are no current plans to reopen the airport.
Atarot Airport (JRS) is currently non-operational. It previously had a single terminal building.
Before its closure, it served both domestic and international flights. The terminal area was approximately 2,000 square meters.
Passenger capacity was around 400,000 passengers per year.
Due to the airport being non-operational, parking facilities are currently unavailable. Previously, there was short-term and long-term parking available.
