Thessaloniki Airport, also known as Makedonia Airport, opened in 1930. It is operated by Fraport Greece.
In 2023, the airport handled approximately 6.9 million passengers. Its IATA code is SKG.
It is the third largest airport in Greece and serves as a gateway to the region of Macedonia. Further expansion plans are under consideration to increase capacity.
Thessaloniki Airport has two terminals. Terminal 1 is the original terminal and is used by Aegean Airlines and other airlines that are members of Star Alliance.
Terminal 2 is newer and serves mainly low-cost and other airlines. The airport has a total of 46 check-in counters, 12 gates, and 5 baggage claim belts.
In 2021, Fraport Greece completed a major expansion of Terminal 1, adding 14,000 sq m of space. The airport has a capacity of 8 million passengers per year.
