Festivals and events worth timing your visit
While Kheerganga itself doesn't host major festivals, nearby Kullu celebrates Dussehra in October. This is a week-long festival with chariot processions and cultural performances. In Manikaran, near Kheerganga, they celebrate Magh Bihu in January with traditional dances and feasts. These festivals offer a glimpse into the local culture and traditions of the Parvati Valley. Visiting during these times adds a cultural dimension to your trip.
What to pack
For April-June and October-November, pack light woollens, trekking pants, and sturdy waterproof trekking shoes. A light jacket is essential, even in summer. Carry sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat for sun protection. A raincoat is advisable, especially during shoulder seasons. Remember a first-aid kit with blister treatment. Avoid heavy jewellery and carry only essential documents.
