July and August are the monsoon months in most of India, but Nubra Valley remains relatively dry due to its location in a rain shadow area. Festivals and events worth timing your visit
The Dosmoche Festival takes place in February, primarily at the Diskit Monastery. This is a masked dance festival showcasing Ladakhi Buddhist traditions. Hemis Festival, held in June/July at Hemis Monastery (near Leh, but accessible from Nubra), features vibrant masked dances and celebrates the birth anniversary of Padmasambhava.
