Jamnagar — Gujarat's "Brass City" and home to some of the world's largest oil refineries — is finally getting the air connectivity it has been demanding for years.
Two major announcements this month bring Jamnagar's total daily flight count to five, with IndiGo entering the route for the first time and Air India doubling its service.
IndiGo Launches Navi Mumbai – Jamnagar (from April 23)
Starting April 23, 2026, IndiGo will operate a daily nonstop service between Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI) and Jamnagar Airport (JGA). This marks Jamnagar as IndiGo's 98th domestic destination, its 6th in Gujarat, and its 145th destination overall.
| Route | Flight | Departure | Arrival | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Navi Mumbai → Jamnagar | 6E 2053 | 4:00 PM | 5:30 PM | 1h 30m |
| Jamnagar → Navi Mumbai | 6E 2054 | 6:10 PM | 7:35 PM | 1h 25m |
Aircraft: Airbus A320/A320neo | Configuration: 186 Economy seats | Frequency: Daily
IndiGo had obtained slots for a Delhi-Jamnagar service during the winter schedule but never actually started those flights. This Navi Mumbai route is the airline's first confirmed operational service to Jamnagar.
Air India Adds Second Daily Mumbai – Jamnagar (from March 29)
Starting March 29, 2026, Air India will add a second daily flight between Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) and Jamnagar. This is in addition to the existing AI 647/648 service that arrives in Jamnagar at 12:30 PM.
| Route | Flight | Departure | Arrival | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mumbai → Jamnagar | AI 2982 | 6:50 AM | 8:10 AM | 1h 20m |
| Jamnagar → Mumbai | AI 2983 | 8:50 AM | 10:20 AM | 1h 30m |
Aircraft: Airbus A320neo | Configuration: 180 Economy seats | Frequency: Daily
The early morning timing is a smart move — business travellers from Jamnagar can land in Mumbai before 10:30 AM, making same-day meetings and return trips practical.

Why Jamnagar Matters
Jamnagar might not be on most tourists' radar, but it's an economic powerhouse. Here's why airlines are suddenly paying attention:
- Reliance Industries' Jamnagar refinery complex — the world's largest oil refining complex, processing 1.4 million barrels per day. Thousands of business travellers fly in and out regularly for operations, maintenance contracts, and executive meetings.
- Nayara Energy (formerly Essar Oil) — another major refinery operator based in Jamnagar, adding to the business travel demand.
- India's brass capital — Jamnagar produces the largest volume of brass items in the country, supporting a massive manufacturing and export ecosystem.
- IAF Jamnagar — the Indian Air Force has a significant presence in the region.
- Proximity to Dwarka — one of the four sacred Char Dham pilgrimage sites, driving religious tourism demand.
The combination of industrial business travel, manufacturing trade, and religious tourism creates consistent year-round demand — exactly the kind of route profile that airlines like IndiGo build their network around.
What Still Needs to Happen
Local business leaders and residents have been demanding flights to Delhi and Bengaluru for years. With IndiGo now in the market and Air India expanding, those routes may not be far off — especially if the Mumbai services perform well in the first few months.
IndiGo had already obtained slots for a Delhi-Jamnagar route during the winter schedule but held back from launching. With Jamnagar now officially in their network, a Delhi connection could follow in the next schedule.
