Yadadri Temple 2026: Complete Darshan, Online Booking & Travel Guide — The Tirupati of Telangana

Yadadri — officially Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple at Yadagirigutta — has emerged as one of the most visited temples in South India after a massive renovation that transformed it from a modest hilltop shrine into a grand Dravidian-style complex rivalling any temple in the country. Called the “Tirupati of Telangana,” Yadadri is unique because it enshrines five forms of Lord Narasimha (the half-man, half-lion avatar of Vishnu) in a single sacred cave: Jwala Narasimha, Yogananda Narasimha, Ugra Narasimha, Gandabherunda Narasimha, and Lakshmi Narasimha. The deity is Swayambhu (self-manifested), which devotees believe gives it extraordinary spiritual power. Just 60 km from Hyderabad, this is one of the easiest major temple pilgrimages in India. Whether you’re a Hyderabadi making a weekend trip or flying in from abroad, this guide covers everything for your 2026 visit.

About the Temple

According to the Skanda Purana, Sage Yadarishi (son of Rishi Rishyasringa and Santa Devi) performed intense penance inside a cave on this hill with the blessings of Lord Hanuman. Pleased by his devotion, Lord Vishnu appeared before him in the fierce Narasimha form in five avatars simultaneously. The sage requested the Lord to remain on the hill and bless all who visit. The five divine forms turned into finely sculpted stone forms that are worshipped to this day. The name “Yadadri” comes from Sage Yadarishi.

The original temple dates to the 13th century and was patronised by various dynasties. In recent years, the Telangana government invested ₹250 crore over 6 years to completely renovate and expand the temple complex. The rebuilt temple features magnificent Dravidian-style architecture with intricately carved pillars, towering gopurams, and modern pilgrim facilities — while preserving the ancient cave sanctum at its heart. It is the first and only temple in India where a state government constructed the temple with public funds at this scale.

The main deity, Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy, is worshipped inside the sacred cave. Lord Hanuman (Anjaneya Swamy) is the Kshetra Palaka (protector deity) of the temple. Goddess Andal is also enshrined in the complex.
