Alpha Airport opened in 1920 and is operated by Alpha Airport Corporation. It handled 44 million passengers in 2023.

Its IATA code is ABH. It is a major international gateway to Australia and a hub for domestic travel.

Future expansion plans include a fourth terminal to accommodate increasing passenger numbers.

Alpha Airport has three terminals. Terminal 1 handles domestic flights and has 25 gates.

Terminal 2 is dedicated to international flights, featuring 18 gates and three airbridges. Terminal 3, opened in 2022, serves both domestic and international flights with a flexible gate allocation system and 12 gates.

The total area of all terminals is 300,000 square meters, with a combined capacity of 30 million passengers per year. Terminal 3 added 75,000 square meters of space and increased the airport's capacity by 8 million passengers annually.
