Xi'an Xianyang International Airport (XIY) opened in 1991 and is operated by the Shaanxi Airport Management Company. It is the largest airport in Northwest China and a major aviation hub.
In 2019, the airport handled over 47 million passengers. The IATA code is XIY.
Future expansion plans include a new terminal (Terminal 5) and additional runways.
Xi'an Xianyang International Airport has three terminals. Terminal 1 is currently closed.
Terminal 2 primarily handles domestic flights. Terminal 3, the largest, handles both domestic and international flights.
Terminal 3 has 78 gates and a total area of 350,000 square meters. The airport has a capacity of over 50 million passengers per year.
