Chiang Rai International Airport opened in 1998 and is operated by Airports of Thailand (AOT). In 2019, the airport handled over 3 million passengers.

Its IATA code is CEI. It serves as a gateway to northern Thailand and the Golden Triangle region.

Further expansion plans are underway to accommodate increasing passenger traffic.
