Haneda Airport, officially known as Tokyo International Airport, opened in 1931. It is operated by Japan Airport Terminal Co., Ltd.
In 2019, it handled over 85 million passengers, making it one of the busiest airports in the world. Its IATA code is HND.
Haneda is a primary gateway for domestic and international travel to and from Tokyo. Further expansion plans are underway to increase capacity for future events.
Haneda Airport has three terminals: Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3. Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 primarily handle domestic flights.
Terminal 3 is dedicated to international flights. Terminal 1, also known as "Big Bird," has 28 gates.
Terminal 2 has 26 gates. Terminal 3 has 20 gates.
In 2020, a new area opened in Terminal 3, increasing its capacity. The total floor space of all terminals is approximately 870,000 square meters.
