Haikou Meilan International Airport (HAK) opened in 1999 and is operated by Hainan Meilan International Airport Co., Ltd. In 2019, the airport handled over 24 million passengers.
It is a major aviation hub for Hainan Province and serves as a gateway to the island. Future expansion plans include further development of Terminal 2 and additional infrastructure improvements.
Haikou Meilan International Airport has two terminals. Terminal 1 primarily handles domestic flights.
Terminal 2 handles both domestic and international flights. The airport has a total of 113 aircraft parking stands.
Terminal 2 has a floor area of approximately 240,000 square meters and an annual passenger capacity of 35 million. A recent expansion project added a new duty-free shopping area in Terminal 2.
Short-term and long-term parking options are available. Short-term parking rates are approximately ¥8 per hour. Daily rates are around ¥80. Parking is available near both terminals.
