Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport (TAO) opened in August 2021, replacing the older Qingdao Liuting International Airport. It is operated by Qingdao International Airport Group.
The airport handled approximately 16 million passengers in 2022. It serves as a major aviation hub for Shandong Province and connects Qingdao to numerous domestic and international destinations.
Future expansion plans aim to increase the airport's capacity to handle 55 million passengers annually.
Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport has two terminals. Terminal 1 handles international and domestic flights.
Terminal 2 primarily handles domestic flights. The airport has 47 boarding bridges.
The total terminal area is 470,000 square meters, with a design capacity of 35 million passengers per year and 500,000 tons of cargo throughput. A future expansion plan includes adding two more terminals and two more runways.
Short-term and long-term parking options are available. Hourly rates start at ¥6 for the first hour and increase incrementally. Daily rates are approximately ¥60-¥80. Parking pre-booking is not widely available.
